This year we have expanded our food production skills, and found that we can grow and produce really yummy things from our own yards. Imagine that... and only ten minutes from downtown Seattle. Our community garden flourished this year quite nicely do to Rick's watering, Louise's weeding, and Mark and Margaret's elbow grease and TLC. In the end, when combined with our own personal gardens, we ended up with various types of tomatoes, onions, grapes, hot peppers (serrano and cayenne), etc.
One day, Margaret brought over some delicious salsa, and after we gobbled it all up, I asked if we could have a salsa party and combine our crops to come up with another salsa creation. Thus, Margaret & Mark came over again, and Abbi & I joined in to learn some of Margaret's salsa recipe secrets.
Instead of lime, we decided to try some tart grape juice from our grape vine. In the video below, Abbi mashes up the grapes, which gave us a nice local flavor instead of using lime juice.
After lots of chopping, and mashing, and adding in some extras (garlic, olive oil, cumin, and cilantro) we mixed it all up and voila! Incredibly delicious salsa!
Time to dig in! Mmmm Mmmm, that is tasty!
Oh yah! That hits the spot!
This year we are finding out that making good things happen can easily begin right in our own back yards... or in this case front yards! Thanks for sharing the goodness Margaret!
