Newport Hills Invaders Reunion - 2009

Hey Hey, kudos goes out to Kevin Anderson for getting on the horn and looking up his old teammates from the Newport Hills Invaders of many years ago. Kevin was one of the first people I ever played soccer with, back in the days of kindergarten "bumble-bee" soccer. His Dad, Marty Anderson, was the coach, and led our team to many great victories and times of celebration. The whole experience led to lots of memorable times on and off the field.

Anyway, here are some shots of the "kick around" we had the other day. It was a great scene... talking with people I haven't seen in over 20 years, kicking the ball around with some old friends, on the old soccer pitch. in the old neighborhood. My mom was there, and some of these rascals were former students of hers at Newport Hills Elementary. It was a great time, and the invitation is open to all past Invaders to come on out to any future events. There's even talk of organizing something with our old rivals the Renton Lions.

Thanks again Kevin... you're helping make good things happen.

Until next time... stay happy and healthy!

Not too shabby of a motley crew... next year we'll shoot for 8 v 8.

John looks for the meg...

Remember when you wouldn't be caught dead in white soccer shoes... today, you can find any color on the field... and Mark shows off his bright ones in style.

Good fun was had by all!
